This page explains what we collect when you join the Human in Charge email list, why we collect it, and how you can leave or ask us to delete it. If you have a question, email us at hello@humaninchargeai.com.
Who we are
Human in Charge makes AI literacy lessons for grades 6-8. Our website is humaninchargeai.com. You can reach us at hello@humaninchargeai.com.
What we collect
When you sign up, we ask for:
- Your email address (required)
- Your first name (optional)
The form also fills in two labels on its own:
- The page you signed up on (for example, "signup" or "lanes")
- The pin label, if you came from one of our Pinterest pins (for example, "lanes-poster-202610-01")
These two labels only tell us which page or pin worked. They don't hold anything about you.
Our email service, MailerLite, also keeps some records on its own when you use the list:
- When you signed up and confirmed, and the internet (IP) address you used to do it. This shows that you asked to join.
- Whether you opened an email and which links you clicked.
We don't ask for anything else. We never ask for student names, student work, or anything about a student.
Why we collect it
We use your information to send you:
- The free activity you signed up for
- Four short welcome emails over the first two weeks
- One monthly newsletter, with a new classroom case or tip every month
- A short note when we launch a new resource
We look at opens, clicks, and the page and pin labels to see which emails and pages are useful, so we can make them better.
How signing up works
After you fill out the form, we send you one email asking you to confirm. You're not on the list until you click the link in that email. If you don't click it, you won't get anything else from us.
Who helps us
MailerLite runs our email list. It stores your information and sends our emails for us. You can read MailerLite's privacy policy here: https://www.mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy
Cloudflare hosts our website and forwards email sent to hello@humaninchargeai.com to our inbox. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles basic technical details, such as your IP address and browser type, so it can deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks. Cookies and tracking on our website
Our own pages don't set cookies, and we don't use ad tracking or website analytics.
The signup form on our pages is loaded from MailerLite. On pages that show the form, MailerLite's code may save a small cookie in your browser with a random ID that lasts about a week, plus one that remembers you already filled out the form. MailerLite uses these to run the form and to count how many times it was seen and used. Pages without the form, like this one, don't load MailerLite's code.
We don't sell or share the list
We don't sell, rent, or trade your information. We don't share it with anyone except the services above, which help us run the list and the website.
How to leave the list
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click takes you off the list.
How to ask us to delete your information
Email hello@humaninchargeai.com and ask us to delete your information. We'll delete your record from our MailerLite list. Unsubscribing stops the emails but keeps your record. Asking us to delete your information removes the record too.
This list is for adults
Our list is for teachers, parents, and other adults who work with students. It is not for children, and we don't knowingly collect information from children or students. If we learn that a child signed up, we delete their information. If you think a child has signed up, please email hello@humaninchargeai.com.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update it on this page and change the effective date at the top.
